2023 Las Primeras Gala & Scholarship Fundraiser
On October 13, 2023, MANA de Imperial Valley held its 28th annual Las Primeras Gala & Scholarship Fundraiser at the Old Eucalyptus School House. The Las Primeras allows MANA de Imperial Valley to celebrate positive leadership in the Latina Community and honor three amazing women the entire community can esteem.
MANA de Imperial Valley honored Dr. Gina Núñez-Mchiri, Diahna Garcia-Ruiz, and Hortencia Armendariz this year. Those in attendance listened in admiration as they shared their beautiful stories of family, education, and community. The stories these three astounding Latina women shared left a powerful mark of pride; to be proud of our roots and care for our community.

The proceeds of the Las Primeras Gala are used to fund college scholarships, and educational and cultural programs for local Imperial County students. Since 2007, MANA has awarded close to $235,000 in local scholarships. In 2023, MANA awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 29 students, the largest amount to date.
